Marathon Trials Contest

Did you hear?  The Olympics are this summer!  Which means the Marathon Olympic Trials are in a few weeks.  Together with Asics, Brooks and Mizuno, we are offering great prizes if you can predict who will win the Trials.  You may enter your guess, including athlete and winning time, through email or on our facebook page.  If you guess the correct winner and time (or closest to it) you will win some great prizes!  You may enter a guess once each day, between now and the start of the Trials, for each gender.  Email Lucas at Lucas@runningshopaz.com or find The Running Shop on Facebook.

Rock ‘n’ Roll VIP Potty

Are you running the Rock ‘n’ Roll on January 15?  Brooks is offering their VIP Porta Potty Pass again!  Available for pre-race use, these comfortable, climate-controlled restrooms will offer running water, flushing toilets and some “Run Happy surprises.”  How do you get a pass?  Easy.  Just buy $100 or more in Brooks and/or Moving Comfort gear, and we’ll give you a pass.  Supplies are limited.

More New Stuff

Brooks has delivered two new shoes to us.  The PureProject line from Brooks promotes an efficient, natural stride by encouraging a more forward foot strike.  Now available, we offer the Pure Connect,  for those who crave less shoe and more freedom, and the PureGrit, with a unique one-piece outsole that has a concave shape.

Our nutrition offerings continues to grow.  Two new flavors of GU have arrived: Peppermint Stick and Peanut Butter.  Tropical in nuun is also available now.

Training Group

Saturday, December 31st, is the kick off for the next Running Shop Training Group!  The twelve week program will focus on training for the Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon on March 25.  Coach Andrew will help you achieve your personal goals for the event.  Included in the program is a tech shirt, water bottle, twice-weekly workouts and a customized training schedule designed just for you.

Upcoming Events

January kicks off Tucson’s racing season.  First is the Sun Run on January 22nd.  This is a chance to run your fastest on a pancake-flat, lightning-fast USAT&F Certified 10K course or opt for the shorter 5k. Proceeds to benefit Pima Community College Cross-Country and Track & Field.  The 10k is part of The Running Shop Grand Prix, produced by SAR.  For more info, please visit http://azroadrunners.org/races/detail/sun_run.

Sunrise at Old Tucson has a new date this year: January 29th.  The coolest trail run in Arizona here at historic Old Tucson Studios: passing through the gates of an old frontier town, visitors are transported back to a time when fearless men with six shooters ruled the Old West. Dash down the streets of Hollywood’s most famous films and walk in the footsteps of movie legends like John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Sharon Stone, and hundreds more. The 2012 Sunrise at Old Tucson race is part of 2012 SAR Grand Prix, presented by The Running Shop.  Go to http://azroadrunners.org/races/detail/sunrise to learn more.

Want to double up your races the last weekend of January?  The Tech Trek 10K is January 28.  The Tech Trek is held at Agua Caliente Elementary School and is an important fundraiser for Tanque Verde schools.  Visit www.tvseef.org for more information.

Wishing You and Yours A Very Happy and Healthy New Year from Sharon, Lucas, Andrew, Dustin, and Jess.
